Product Description

Puerh or Pu'er is a variety of fermented tea produced in Yunnan province, China, and named after Pu'er City. Fermentation in the context of tea production involves microbial fermentation and oxidation of the tea leaves, after they have been dried and rolled. This process is a Chinese specialty and produces tea known as Heicha, commonly translated as dark, or black tea. This type of tea is different from what in the West is known as "black tea", which in China is called "hongcha" i.e. "red tea". The best known variety of this category of tea is pu'er from Yunnan Province, named after the trading post for dark tea during imperial China.Puer tea 4Puer tea 2

Benefits Of Tea

Puerh tea contains caffeine, although not as much caffeine as other teas. Caffeine works by stimulating the central nervous system (CNS), heart, and muscles. Pu-erh tea also contains antioxidants and other substances that might help protect the heart and blood vessels. There is interest in using puerh tea for lowering cholesterol because, unlike other teas, it contains small amounts of a chemical called lovastatin. Lovastatin is a prescription medicine used for lowering cholesterol. Investigators think that bacteria that sometimes contaminate puerh tea may somehow make the lovastatin in the course of their normal life cycle. Animal research suggests that pu-erh tea might lower certain blood fats called triglycerides as well as total and “bad” low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. It might also raise “good” high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.

Steeping Instruction

1.A teapot or other brewing vessel, such as a Gaiwan (lidded bowl)

2.Cup, glass, mugs, or any vessel to drink from (we recommend having at least two, one drinking cup and one receptacle cup for discarded water)

3.Hot water (at least ~ 90°C or 195°F, but preferably boiling water)

4.Tea (This is the easy tutorial, but if you desire to use a scale to measure we recommend roughly 1 gram of tea per 15mL of boilded water. ex:7.5 grams for 100 ml)

Storaged method

Both green and black varieties of Puerh tea can be stored for long periods of time. In fact, the longer the storage, the better the tea gets. We recommend storage in unglazed clay containers, either for long term holding or for drinking, since they “breathe” and reduce temperature fluctuations. The best clay containers are made from the same Yixing clay as the famous Yixing teapots. If these are not available, a sealed cardboard box can suffice or even a paper bag, but make sure these have no chemical odours from manufacturing.

The best location for storage is a cool, dry place, away from temperature fluctuations and odours, such as those from the kitchen, as tea absorbs odours and this will affect the flavor of the tea.
