Gunpowder green tea is native to Zhejiang Province, in the eastern coast of China. In Chinese, gunpowder tea is called zhu cha; literally "pearl tea" or "bead tea"; not to be confused with boba tea. The origin of the English term may come from the tea's similarity in appearance to actual gunpowder: grayish, dark pellets of irregular shape used as explosive propellant for early guns. The name may also have arisen from the fact that the grey-green leaf is tightly rolled into a tiny pellet and "explodes" into a long leaf upon being steeped in hot water. Another explanation is that the tea can also have a smoky flavor.It is also possible that the English term may stem from the Mandarin Chinese phrase for "freshly brewed", "gang pao de", which sounds like the English word "gunpowder."

The history of Gunpowder green tea

We begin our story in China, in the Zhejiang province, during the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 AD), where this tea was first produced. Some say, this green tea got its English name in the 18th century by a British clerk, due to its similarity with gunpowder pellets. Others say that it was the very British sailors that were taking this tea from China all the way to the West.

How to choose a higher quality level of Gunpowder green tea?

When selecting this often pungent tea, you'll want to look for smaller, more shimmery pellets, indicating that younger and more tender leaves were at the origin of the production process.  

Gunpowder tea leaves are withered, steamed, rolled, and then dried. Although the individual leaves were formerly rolled by hand, today most gunpowder tea is rolled by machines (though the highest grades are still rolled by hand). Rolling renders the leaves less susceptible to physical damage and breakage and allows them to retain more of their flavor and aroma. When buying gunpowder tea it is important to look for shiny pellets, which indicate that the tea is relatively fresh. Pellet size is also associated with quality, larger pellets being considered a mark of lower quality tea. High quality gunpowder tea will have small, tightly rolled pellets.

The ideal water temperature should be 70ºC - 80ºC. Green teas are more delicate, so you shouldn’t boil the water. If you are becoming passionate about tea, consider buying a thermometer in a tea shop. steeping for 2 minutes—you may prefer longer. Feel free to try different steeping times till you find the one that suits you better. The rule here is: the longer you let your tea brew, the stronger will be its taste.

2. Why don’t you publish your other products in your Aliwholesale page here, as those showing in your FML website?
The reason is to ensure the consistent supply of our wholesale products. Some of products can only be supplied with bigger order for 
our big customers, and they need be ordered specially with specific MOQ. For such kind of products, we have not enough stock to supply consistently. Therefore, we withdraw the products from our wholesale page to avoid any inconvenience caused to our wholesale customers due to the inconsistently supply.

- Policy on the refund, return or exchange the products:
1. The system will refund your money automatically if the goods were not delivered in time, or you cancel your orders.
2. Within 10 working days start from the moment when you received the physical goods, we guarantee to refund your money if you were not delighted with your purchase. But, you need return the goods in the original packaging and pay for the freight cost at the same time.
