Yerba Mate is called Ilex Paraguariensis in Lains,a species of holly that grows as an evergreen shrub or tree up to 45 feet tall.In the classification,it belongs to black tea,which is rare to be known by most people.
It is traditionally produced in the central and southern regions of South America, particularly Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, southern and central-western Brazil, the Chaco region of Bolivia and southern Chile.It is also very famous in the Druze community in Syria and Lebanon, where it is primarily imported from Argentina.Yerba mate was initially utilized and cultivated by the Guarani people and in some Tupi communities in southern Brazil, prior to European colonization.Yerba Mate is mainly consumed as a tea product,its dry leaves and twigs can be brewed in hot water,which can extract fresh liquor(Tea water).The flavor is grassy,what’s more,the taste and tea infusion is similar to green tea.
